School Librarian Standards Advisory Committee 2021
I served on the School Librarian Educator Standards Advisory Committee, which advised the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) on the standards, knowledge, and skills required for school librarian certification in Texas.
The committee worked to update the Texas School Librarian Certificate Standards, which had not been revised in more than a decade. These standards provided the foundation for preparing future certified school librarians. The committee’s work reflected changes in school libraries, technology, instructional practices, and the evolving role of the school librarian.
